FOGGS IS LOOKING FOR THE RIGHT PEOPLE TO JOIN ITS SECRETARIAT TEAM

Our Foundation is intensifying its work, especially on issues related to rethinking multilateralism, UN reform and the FOGGS proposal for a Global Resilience Council (GRC). It will need the services of additional good people in the areas of specialization indicated below. Please consider whether you would be interested and spread the word to others who might be.

1. Global Governance / Sustainability Advisor (incl. resilience, climate, energy, the economy)
Emphasis on human security and resilience, addressing non-military threats and interconnected mega-crises like climate change, pandemics, food and water insecurity, increasing inequalities, financial crises. Alternative indicators and approaches to growth and well-being, the role of the private sector, new economic paradigms, the role of the United Nations Organization and the United Nations system with regard to the above.

2. Global Governance / Peace and Security Advisor

Emphasis on the impact of armed conflict on global governance institutions and on the achievement of human security, sustainability and resilience. UN Security Council reform and broader UN reform Issues; disarmament, especially nuclear disarmament; human rights and humanitarian affairs.

3. Communication / Social Media Expert

Implementation of the FOGGS communication strategy, especially regarding the GRC but also other aspects of FOGGS’ work. Relations with the international press / mainstream media, placement of FOGGS articles and opinion pieces, promoting the work of FOGGS on social media, planning and advancing petitions and other campaigns, organization of events. 

4. Office Manager

Backstopping the management of FOGGS personnel and accounts; contacts with the Belgian authorities on administrative and financial matters; fundraising contacts with public and private sector bodies from around the world; organization of events.

5. Intern / Trainee
Master’s or PhD students in any of the areas of specialization indicated in the previous positions.

    • All positions require very good knowledge of English, both oral and written, as well as computer skills. Proficiency in other languages is an asset. For position 4 very good knowledge of French and/or Dutch also a requirement.
    • Basic knowledge of the United Nations and the UN system of organizations is a requirement, except for position 4. More in-depth knowledge of / practical experience with a United Nations system entity or other international organization a major asset for positions 1, 2 and 3.
    • Cross-sectoral expertise for positions 1 and 2 an important asset.
    • The above openings can be filled at junior, mid-career or senior level, as long as the successful applicant has the required qualifications and in-depth interest in the relevant work of FOGGS. Mid-career and senior level applicants for positions 1 and 2 require a PhD and at least five years of experience, or at least ten years of experience without a PhD.
    • These are not expected to be full-time positions, initially at least, so only self-employed experts can be considered at this stage. Please indicate your availability in your motivation letter.

    • Teleworking is currently the norm for FOGGS.
