Stuart Best joined FOGGS in January 2021 as a Junior Associate / Trainee, to conduct policy research on climate governance and global sustainability, whilst contributing to the daily activities of the FOGGS Secretariat.

Originally from Northern Ireland, Stuart completed his BSc in Environmental Management from Queen’s University Belfast, and is currently in the final stages of his MA in International Political Economy, at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands.  Stuart has experience in renewable energy policy implementation and has also worked as a fundraising consultant in the philanthropy sector.  Here, he was involved in projects ranging from increasing global healthcare access to the fight against human trafficking, liaising with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Stuart’s area of specialisation is climate politics and has focused his academic research on how to increase international cooperation in this field, specifically in relation to the UNFCCC, the European Union and their respective carbon trading policies.  This closely aligns with his work at FOGGS, and he shares the organisation’s ambitions and values. Stuart enjoys travelling and sports, and alongside his work at FOGGS, teaches English to Chinese students.
