Lauren Anne Brennan joined FOGGS in February 2021, initially as a trainee and subsequently as Junior Policy and Project Management Advisor. She conducts policy research on the role of the militaries in civilian emergencies (The M4CE Project) and on the promotion of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She is also a regular contributor to Katoikos.world
Lauren is a, international affairs, environmental politics, development and sustainability professional with a distinguished record in volunteering, volunteer training and civic engagement. She holds a BA in Politics and International Affairs from Wake Forest University (USA) and a double MA in International Affairs and MSc in Environment, Politics and Development from SAIS Bologna Centre and SOAS University of London. She speaks English and French, with some basic Italian and Dutch.
Prior to joining FOGGS, Lauren served as an AmeriCorps VISTA Fellow at the US national non-profit Generation Citizen to advocate for civics education in middle and high school classrooms. Additionally, Lauren worked at the World Bank Group where she tackled issues related to employment protection and economic justice. Lauren is also passionate about climate action and sustainability and has experience working alongside the Australian Greens to promote marine conservation.
In her free time, Lauren enjoys reading about European history and politics. She is also an avid cyclist and can be found wandering the canals of Amsterdam from time to time.
