Global Citizenship
Starting point
While globalisation and increasing concentration of wealth lead to ever-bigger corporate units, the digital technology empowers individuals to access unlimited information and organise according to shared interests and concerns. The power of the internet and social media has proven a double-edged sword, on the one hand enabling social and political progress, while strengthening the influence of populists and taking the destructive power of the mob to another level. Our aspiration is to contribute to the rise of a conscientious global citizen, who is aware of his/her rights and responsibilities, and is ready to take action in full knowledge of short- and long-term, local and global repercussions. A citizen who would refrain from impulsive reactions and would make the best use of existing digital tools to instil sense into the actions of both political and economic leaders at all levels. And a citizen who would embody in her/his daily life the necessary respect for the rich diversity of human societies and individuals, and the intrinsic value of other species and the natural environment.
