Johnatan Santos holds a PhD from the Department of Theory and History of International Relations, Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN). In 2020 he became a Researcher at the Nucleus of Research of Environmental Displaced People (NEPDA/UEPB) in Brazil, where he focuses on Human Mobility due to climate change. Johnatan is also a  Member of the Peace Research, Conflict and Critical Security Studies (PCECS) Research Group that includes a group of researchers who promote the use of mediation and diplomacy.

Since 2022, Johnatan has been a fellow at the Institute of Latin American Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ILA RAN). His areas of specialization include Latin American studies, International Organizations, Peacekeeping and UN Reform, as well as Peace & Security.
